Take that, Letitia James! The New York Attorney General was shut down by a New York Appeals court, just like when a scrambling quarterback gets sacked by a ferocious linebacker.

The appeals court summarily dismissed an absurd $450 million penalty that was imposed by a lawfare judge in a civil case brought by Ms. James against Donald Trump over inaccurate financial estimates as part of a private loan arrangement.

The law the AG wielded against the President, Justice David Freeman wrote, “has never been used in the way it is being used in this case, namely, to attack successful, private, commercial transactions, negotiated at arm’s length between highly sophisticated parties,” and all profited. The witch hunt against Donald Trump was never about the law. Rather, as Freeman stated, Ms. James’s ultimate goal was “the derailment of President Trump’s political career and destruction of his real estate business.”

All NYC business owners are breathing a sigh of relief. As we wrote in a previous Mazzei Minute, if the radical left AG can go after Trump if their line of wokeism is violated, then what’s to stop her and her ilk from going after others? Can you imagine the hotbed of socialism-exerting tyranny on entrepreneurs and banks who don’t tow the party line, and reinforced by what looks to be a new communist mayor taking over in NYC?

The destruction of capitalism and free enterprise between businesses seems to be averted in New York for now. We are extremely fortunate that President Trump had the means and tenacity to wage this fight for freedom, and America is on the mend since the wings of the wicked witch of New York just got clipped.
