$5 a gallon for gasoline is now the national average! Good grief, and to think we brought this on ourselves! Well, the “we” is actually Joe Biden and his administration of climate religion leftists who would not listen to common sense warnings about their war against fossil fuels.
You would think rational heads would start to learn from their mistakes in the White House, as energy prices have doubled since Biden’s inauguration. But alas, the administration continues to do the opposite of what is needed to bring down gas prices.
Inexplicably, Biden recently canceled drilling production leases in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska’s Cook Inlet. His bureaucrats in the Interior Department disingenuously cited a lack of industry interest even though the department afforded no opportunity for new bids.
The Biden administration also keeps dragging its feet on granting additional permits required for new drilling to make the most of leases and permits already approved by the federal government.
The absurdity of our nation's current energy policy became crystal clear when the premiere of Alberta, Canada testified to the U.S. Senate in May. Biden’s cancellation of the Keystone Pipeline, according to the Canadian official, eliminated the ability to move 25% more oil than the amount we imported from Russia in 2021.
Our top level of oil production from November 2019 was almost 13 million barrels per day. Our most recent production numbers available indicate a production level of 11.3 million barrels per day. If Biden wants to really help the working class, which he claims to represent, he should immediately lead America's oil and gas production to increase output by 2 million barrels per day and greenlight pipelines to move that oil across the country.
